High carb diet is utilized to glycogen stored in the liver and muscles. Glycogen is a glucose complex that provides large amounts of energy ready for use in fitness exercises.

Fats, on the other hand, are well-known for being the richest source of calories. It actually contains 2.5 times more calories than carbohydrates and proteins alike. Studies also show that it takes the body 24 calories to metabolize carbohydrates while it only takes 3 calories to burn down fat.

Choose Your Own Diet Program

So, which one of these two dieting approaches should you follow? It's best to consult with both your doctor and a fitness and diet expert. Doctor or physician will be more conscious of your overall health, while fitness expert will focus more on potential fitness benefits of your diet. You need to heed both of their advice, with perhaps more emphasis placed on your diet's effect on your health.

Remember, you can exercise and get fit when you're healthy. But it'd be hard to stay fit or improve your fitness when you're unhealthy. It is absolutely not recommended to follow both diet approaches at the same time; unless of course you want to gain body fat.

But then dieting for fitness is not all about losing fat. You must also consider your eating habits as means of keeping fat away. Research shows that sustainable loss of weight can only be achieved on a diet that suits the individual food preferences, lifestyle, medical profile and satiety signals (appetite safisfaction).

Diet programs all over can help you shed off excess pounds, but only one diet can help you stay sexy, and it is the one that satisfies you most. This will go a long way to help you maintain good eating habits and not view them as a diet.

Other important aspects of having a fit diet are moderation, balance and variation. One must be careful not to leave out important nutrients and other substances necessary for healthy body functioning. Various health organizations provide clear information about the amounts of nutrients an individual should have in the body.

Low fat high carbs, high carbs low fat. The question is not which diet program will work out but which is it the one that will work for you. Striving for a sexy and healthy body does not have to burden an individual.

Eating to keep fit does not mean sticking to some kind of diet and eating the same kind of food for life. Be adventurous and try out new foods out there. Whos knows? You may even discover that spinach and brussels sprout offer an interesting and tasty alternatives. More so than you ever thought possible.
