Why Foot Pain Is the Cause of a Surprising Number of Abandoned Workout Regimes

How to reduce foot pain during workout

There are lots of reasons why people abandon workout plans they started with great enthusiasm. Sometimes it is simply that the workout routine becomes boring and the person no longer feels motivated and inspired to do it. Other times life gets in the way and they find themselves missing more and more planned sessions due to other commitments, until they give up entirely.

There are also time when people chose a program that was too advanced, and began to dread the workout. These are all fairly normal and the usual solution is simply to try a different activity or approach.

Choose correct training shoes for workouts
One of the most important aspects for pain-free workout is to choose right training shoes for your fitness regimen

However, some people find workout regimes that are right for them, which they want to do, and which they are seeing results from, but have to give them up because they are causing them discomfort that over time, becomes untenable. Foot pain, along with back and joint pain, is one of the main offenders when it comes to frustrating people who want to work out. If you are experiencing foot pain and considering stopping your current exercise program, happily there are some things you can do to alleviate the pain and still keep on training.

Always Wear the Correct Training Shoes

Different activities place different demands on the feet, and wearing the wrong type of shoe for a given one can cause not only blisters and general foot pain, but also pain or injury to the ankles, knees and back. Running, for example, requires proper running shoes designed to absorb shock and properly support the foot while running – normal fashion trainers or tennis shoes will lead you to have a bad time if you run any real distance in them.

Wear shoes designed for the sport you are doing, or for general gym workouts, make sure you have comfortable 'all round' sports trainers. If at the gym you mostly run on the treadmill, particularly for long periods, running shoes are a better choice as generally these are also fine for resistance training, whereas more general trainers are not so good for running. As well as the proper shoes, you should also wear good sports socks that will protect from blisters and give some compression, boosting circulation.

Consider In-Shoe Aids

If you experience any problems, even while wearing the correct shoes and socks for your activities, you can also look at things like heel cups and gel insoles which are designed to protect the foot and add comfort when working out, or even just when walking around in normal shoes. Manufacturers like sturdyfoot.com make in shoe aids for all kinds of pains and problems, and they have ranges for sport as well as for normal everyday use.

By doing all you can to take good care of your feet and ensure you don't end up with painful conditions that may make you want to give up on your chosen exercise plan, you can have a much easier time on the route to the level of fitness and body you want!
