The patients in such cases are suggested to stay back in the hospital for at least two to three weeks where the patients are made to participate in intensive rehabilitation programs that involve at least three hours of active therapy.
In such intensive rehab programs, the patients are involved in the therapy for five to seven days per week with the aim of receiving quick results. The inpatient rehab facilities usually have a wide range of offerings for the patients, which is a combination of intensive medical services under the strict supervision of the physician. Oupatient rehabilitation or home care
The stroke patients who have lesser cognitive or physical deficits are usually referred for outpatient rehabilitation or home health rehabilitation. The home rehabilitation is undoubtedly the best for those patients who become homebound after stroke and are not in a condition to travel. In case, the patients are strong enough to travel for 2-3 days in a week, they can opt for the outpatient facility. There are hourly sessions by the physical therapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists to help the patients in regaining their normal lifestyle.
